In these last few weeks there's been all kinds of bad news. Tornadoes and a blizzard. Gun violence and a legislative body squabbling like toddlers over budgets, health care and who knows what else. For those of us in the US, it's tax season. Yuck.
We're only in the second week of Lent. Easter's a long way off. And here in the Mid-Atlantic region, the weather can't seem to make up its mind. Is it winter? Is it spring? Will it snow? Will it rain? Are my daffodils doomed if they actually BLOOM next week like they are threatening to?
So this week's Friday Five is courtesy of my good friends Frodo and Sam. Tell me 5 things that are good in our world. Or your world. Photos are a bonus.
So here are my 5.
1. Cookie Butter.
Have you had this magical stuff yet?I get it at Trader Joe's. Here is my secret recipe. 1 slice of bread with peanut butter. 1 slice of bread with cookie butter. Toast the slices. Then put strawberry preserves on the peanut butter side. Put them together. It is yum-mo!
2. Diet Coke
It makes getting up in the morning bearable for those of us who don't drink coffee, and need some caffeine. I'll take the store brand too. I'm not picky.
3. Gardening
There is nothing like taking a little bitty seed and turning it into dinner. For weeks. The work is soothing to me after being in the office all day or surrounded by people. Just to go out and tend the garden. Pull some weeds. Water the plants. It helps make life make sense.

4. Texas
Texans are known for there arrogance and pride in their home state, and I am not an exception. In fact, I am the epitome of this stereotype. Bluebonnets, community, Blue Bell ice cream, 70 degree weather in January and southern manners. And now that it is rodeo season? Don't get me started.
5. Family
It don't matter the crazy, we are there for each other.

I love your honest gratitudes! I need to find that cookie butter, though there is no Trader Joes nearby in Corpus Christi, TX. But on a trip soon on WA and UT, I know where there are nearby Trader Joe's stores. I need a morning TAB, which is an ancestor of Diet Coke, so we are together in this caffeine need. AND this coming week will be wonderful in TX!
Cookie Butter...sounds delicious and addictive :)
COOOOOOKKKIIIEEEEE BUUUUTTTTTERRRRR!!!!!!! OH MAN!!! I love that stuff (too much!) I hereby think we should start a cult. :) Thanks for the fun and the joy in your post.
