Friday Five

Revkjarla over at RevGalBlogPals writes:

I don't know about you, but my life seems to have a lot of random surprises lately. Just little things, like the doggy in the picture, who was rescued by a Good Samaritan from running into traffic, who then brought him to the police, who brought him to my neighbor's house. I took the doggy, now named Scout, to the vet on Monday, and the woman behind the desk said, "This dog looks so familiar. Were you here last week?" I told her no, that this particular dog is a stray, and she looked at me, and said (use your best Boston accent here), "Oh my GAWD! I rescued that dog on Satuhday! I took him to the police!" and then she proceeded to tell me the story. She was Scout's angel.

Random, right?

So, for our Friday Five, I invite you share five random things about you, or five random thoughts, or five random surprises in your life.

Just be random!

Random is my middle name.
Not really. But wouldn't it be random if it was?
No? Ok. Here are my 5.

1. It is December 9 and I have nary a Christmas decoration up. Usually my electric bill is spiking by now and I have baked no less that 10 dozen cookies. This year - nada, zero, zich. Not sure if it is the Grinch, sleep depravation or laziness. Probably all three.

2. Macaroni and cheese is my favorite food. It has always been my favorite food. It will continue to be. And, while I do love to dress it up with bacon or mushrooms or a bit of truffle, when I need comfort food, what I need is a 33 cent box of store brand mac and cheese with the powdered cheese food and mushy noodles.

3. In my mind, I have rationalized my obsession healthy consumption of reality tv. Survivor, Top Chef, Project Runway, those are all ok. But I am not hooked. I don't have a problem. Why? Silly. Cause I don't watch any of the Real Housewives or MTV reality shows. I know it's lame, but it's a guilty pleasure.

4. Yesterday was my Forever Family Day. My favorite things to do are:
a. be a mom.
b. think I am a rebel because I am quietly listening to Christmas carols in my office knowing full well it is the season of Advent, and I should wait. (Scandalous!)
c. Be in a kitchen whipping something up that I know I get to share with others.
IV. Embracing my inner church geek studying Greek grammar so I can teach on Revelation.
e. Sleep. Nap. Pray with St Joseph. Ask for intercessory from St. Serta of the Mattress. Saw logs. Any of the above. I am good at it and love to do it.

5. Growing up, I had a parakeet named Sammy. He could talk. I wanted him to be able to say his name. Then I learned the hardest sounds for a bird to mimic are "s" and "m". So when that bird died and I got another bird I named him - wait for it -
Sammy 2. I was not the brightest crayon in the box.

5 not just lurkers:

Macaroni and cheese is yummy. No Christmas decorations here either. I always wanted a pet parakeet, but my mother refused.

I like to dress up my mac and cheese with fresh chopped tomato, grated real cheese, and peas.....and, I quite agree that you do not have an obsession with reality TV...lol
